Supply, North Carolina, is situated near the intersections of Ocean Highway (US 17) and Southport-Supply Road/Green Swamp Road (NC211) in Brunswick County. As an unincorporated community of slightly more than 11,800 people, the town is not governed by its own municipal corporation. Instead, it is administered by Brunswick County.
The community was named Supply because the nearby Lockwood’s Folly River was used as a trade route throughout the 1700 to 1800s. Residents of nearby communities, including Caswell Beach, Holden Beach, Oak Island, Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach would travel to Supply to pick up materials and goods.
People living in these communities still choose to commute to Supply to go shopping. Retailers in the town of Southport and commercial districts in the Intracoastal Waterway give them more options if they don’t want to make the drive, however.
