Located nearby the towns of Holly Ridge and Sneads Ferry, in close proximity to Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville, lies the sleepy beach town of North Topsail. People who want to get away from it all and seek out a relaxing coastal lifestyle appreciate North Topsail for its scenic natural beauty, large network of waterways and of course, wide sandy beaches.
Named for its scenic location at the end of the road on the far northern end of the 26-mile-long Topsail Island, North Topsail is home to only about 850 year-round residents. Nature takes center stage in North Topsail, as the Island Nature Preserve is located on the sound side, and the Stump Sound Area Outstanding Resource Water Preserve is nearby.
Things to do in North Topsail
With so much open water, North Topsail is perfect for kayaking, bird watching or fishing, whether from a boat or off the local fishing pier. A few other fun things to do include going to the beach, surfing or biking, and there are a number of restaurants that serve fresh local seafood to fill up on afterwards.
North Topsail has a community park with a playground, basketball courts and free beach parking. The small-town atmosphere is another draw, along with the many efforts that have been made in recent years to expand/improve Highway 17 and the surrounding roads, to provide a faster, more convenient connection to major urban areas.
