Homes for Sale in Conway, SC

With a picturesque setting along the banks of the Waccamaw River, a historical tradition dating back to 1732 and many golf courses, restaurants and shops, the town of Conway has a lot to offer.  Located only 15 miles away from the beaches and attractions of the Grand Strand, in close proximity to the town of Carolina Forest, Conway has a variety of real estate availablefrom starter homes, newly constructed luxury homes and condominiums along the riverfront, to investment properties, golf course homes,  historic properties, and waterfront residences with views and private docks.

Many home buyers and investors in Conway concentrate on finding properties nearby Coastal Carolina University, an independent university with approximately 10,500 undergraduates.  Finding a home or town home in walking distance to the Conway Riverwalk is another goal for many people, as it has a large boardwalk on a bluff overlooking the river, several parks and playgrounds nearby.

Things to Do in Conway

Venturing outside for a day on the water, whether boating, fishing or kayaking is a top activity in Conway.  There are several nature preserves nearby, including Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area, which has a boat ramp, bike trails and hiking.  The scenic, approximately 55,000 acre Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is another draw, as it is located a short drive away.  It boasts many opportunities to spot wildlife such as bald eagles, ospreys and alligators while fishing, biking, hiking or kayaking.

Visiting the Horry County Museum and learning more about the history of Conway is another good option.  Though many Conway residents fought in the American Revolution, it was initially named Kingston, partly in reference to the large amount of Tories who lived there.  A number of battles took place in areas such as Black Lake and Bear Bluff, both near Kingston.  After the war ended, the name was changed to Conwayborough, to honor General Robert Conway and move away from the loyalist roots.

With many listings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the City Hall, which was designed by the same architect responsible for the Washington Monument, as well as a vibrant downtown filled with historic points of interest, boutiques, casual and fine dining options, Conway is a great place to visit or live.  To get in touch with a local neighborhood expert who can help you find the right home to fit with your personality and long-term goals, or to connect with a listing specialist who can help you get a short market time and a high sale price, click here.
