WILMINGTON, NC – Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage recently launched an innovative Agent Concierge program to assist new agents transition into the industry or into the Sea Coast Advantage team of REALTORS®. The program is the brainchild of Tara English, a REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage since 2010.
“New agents who recently obtained their licenses are very knowledgeable, but until you have the opportunity to put those skills to work, the prospect of being out there on your own can be very intimidating,” said English. “The Agent Concierge is a peer-to-peer, confidential mentoring program that encourages new agents to ask for help and guidance where and when they need it. Because it’s a peer level program, agents are more comfortable seeking help about anything and everything – even routine aspects of the job that they might be reluctant to discuss with a manager or supervisor.”
English is working as the new Agent Concierge on a part-time basis while continuing her own general brokerage business at Sea Coast Advantage.
“The response by the new agents so far has been tremendous,” said Tom O’Neill, Director of Sales for Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. “As we continue to grow as a company and awareness of the program grows, the demand for Agent Concierge services could grow as well and could turn this into a full-time commitment.”
The Agent Concierge program is available for all Sea Coast Advantage agents, but is required for all agents who are new to the company – both those new to the industry and those transferring from another firm.
O’Neill, who oversees the Agent Concierge program as part of his Director of Sales responsibilities, created a 30-day Program Guide that includes daily activities to assist new agents acclimate to the industry and to the firm. English checks in daily with participating agents and holds them accountable for completing Guide activities, some of which are suggested and some required. The guide includes tips on preparing listing presentation, document preparation, generating new business, etc.
“At Sea Coast Advantage, we work for the agents – they do not work for us,” said Tim Milam, president of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. “The Agent Concierge program is an extension of this philosophy and another example of our commitment to supporting our agents and ensuring their success. We applaud Tara for her innovative thinking and for bringing this program to fruition. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first and only program of its kind in North Carolina and perhaps on the East Coast.”
English said the name for the program – Agent Concierge – was inspired by the personal service found at 5-star resorts. “5-star resorts have a concierge to help you with any of your needs and they are available to assist with any aspects of your stay,” said English. “Sea Coast Advantage is a 5-star company and through Agent Concierge, we now offer the same type of concierge level service to our new agents to help them grow their business.”
English is available to participating agents either by appointment or drop-in. She says that for the first two weeks of the program, every hour available was booked and the agent response has been very positive.
“My meetings with agents can last 15 minutes or two hours, depending on their needs,” said English. “I’ve assisted agents with listing presentations, helped them design postcards to mail out to prospects, and assisted with contracts and doc prep. I’m here to help them in whatever manner they need until they transition into being a more experienced, confident agent.”
English works out of the Wilmington office of Sea Coast Advantage but will travel to the firm’s outlying offices as needed to provide Agent Concierge services. She continues to be an active agent in New Hanover County, Leland and Hampstead.
