With the incredible variety and beauty of southeastern North Carolina, it’s no wonder that an increasing number of people are flocking to the area from all over the country. One of the most pleasant locales has to be Carolina Shores, with its unique access to some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast and its variety of planned communities.
In addition to a lower than average unemployment rate, Carolina Shores offers near-perfect year-round weather and fast access to Myrtle Beach, one of the premier destinations in the country.
The Town of Carolina Shores includes six planned communities – the Carolina Shores Subdivision, The Farm at Brunswick, Beacon Townes, Calabash Lakes, The Village at Calabash and Lighthouse Cove.
The town was incorporated in 1998 after a split from the town of nearby Calabash, although it maintains interlocking borders with Calabash. Carolina Shores is a golfer’s dream, offering several top-rated courses and the availability of golf course community living. Choosing a home in any of the planned communities offers residents the advantage of nearby shopping, dining, entertainment and water activities. Golf lovers have the options of visiting the Isles of Farmstead Golf Links, Indigo Farms and Lori’s Golf Shoppe.
From the Intracoastal Waterway to beyond the Calabash River, Carolina Shores features some of Brunswick County’s finest homes. The residential area consists of single family homes, patio homes, gate homes and villas, with the Town of Carolina Shores welcoming new developments into the town limits.
First developed in October 2004, this community grew by 150 acres in two short years. It’s a residential community, consisting of single family homes and townhouses on Highway 17, with a second entrance on Thomasboro Road. The community features an amenity center, clubhouse, nature trail and common areas on more than 84 acres.
The original members of the town’s population created this area, consisting of an updated 18-hole golf course, modern clubhouse and amenity center. The residential area adjoining the golf course includes single family homes, villas, patio and gate homes. The Acreage Estates section of the subdivision features one-acre single family lots.
Calabash Lakes, developed in 2007, is a relaxing residential community located on Thomasboro Road. The original plan included 103 single family homes, 265 townhouses, and 86 duplexes spread across 164 acres. The amenity center, common areas and clubhouse sit on 32 of those acres.
Situated on the eastern side of Carolina Shores, Lighthouse Cove was developed in 2005. This lovely residential and family-friendly community sits on more than six acres, which includes a golf clubhouse, amenity center, and family-friendly, interactive common areas.
One of the more recently planned communities, the Village at Calabash was started in the mid-80s and annexed by the Town in 2003. Another residential community, it’s located on Thomasboro Road. The community covers 178 acres that consists of 520 single family homes including an amenity center, clubhouse, and common areas.
