Vote for Janice at realtor.com/goodneighbor

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC – Janice Sialiano, an agent in the Surfside Beach office of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage has been selected as one of ten finalists in The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) 2020 Good Neighbor Awards, which honor NAR members who make an extraordinary difference in their communities through volunteer work. This is the 21st year the Good Neighbor Awards program has recognized Realtor® volunteers who donate time, money and passion to enrich the lives of people in their communities.

“These Realtors® help their neighbors in impactful and inspiring ways,” said NAR President Vince Malta, broker at Malta & Co., Inc., in San Francisco, CA. “I am so proud to honor this year’s Good Neighbor Award finalists for their outstanding volunteer work and for exemplifying everything we strive to be as Realtors® and as engaged, compassionate members of a community.”

After volunteering when Hurricane Hugo devastated her coastal community in 1989, Janice wanted to do more. She was inspired by neighbors who had nowhere to spend the holidays and in response to that, she organized a small community dinner. Now more than thirty years later, the Community Christmas Dinner event has grown to require 500 volunteers and serves 12,000 guests each holiday season. It is the largest Christmas Day dinner in the state, and is held at four locations across three counties. Many of those in attendance are seniors or people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, though anyone who needs a place to spend the holidays is encouraged to attend.

In the coming weeks, five winners will be selected by a multi-stage, criteria-based judging process. Winners will receive a $10,000 grant and national media exposure for their community charity, including a feature in the November/December issue of REALTOR® Magazine. The winners will also be recognized at the virtual REALTORS® Conference & Expo this November, while five honorable mention selections will receive a $2,500 grant for their respective nonprofit organizations.

The public is invited to vote on the 10 finalists at realtor.com/goodneighbor between September 2 and October 2, These ‘Web Choice Favorites’ and the five judged winners will be announced on October 6.
