In celebration of National Walking Day, we asked our agents and staff to tell us about their favorite places to go for a stroll in beautiful, scenic Southeastern North Carolina. The picturesque Cape Fear Region offers vast and varied environments for a leisurely amble, from bustling town centers, to historic downtown Wilmington, from trails that wind among majestic pine forests, to miles of sandy coastline--if you’re up for a walk, we have a lovely route to suite your tastes!
“My wife Diane and I love to walk by Osprey Lake in Waterford of the Carolinas. From our house around the lake and back is two and a quarter miles.”
“I love a walk on the Surf City Pier with a cone of ice cream... whether it's to see what kind of fish are biting, just for the views, or to go to the end and think about how another whole continent is on the other side of that water, it makes you seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things.”
“I love to walk to the River House in Winding River Plantation with my husband and our little dog Carlos. Our house is a short walk from there and we get to watch the Intracoastal Waterway sunsets and wildlife. It’s so calm and peaceful, we got to see dolphins pass through there the other day. It’s just beautiful and breathtaking! It’s one of the many reasons we love North Carolina! I also love to walk to the Kindred Spirit Mailbox. It's wonderful, peaceful, and serene.”
“Love a sunset walk on my Oak Island”
“Wilmington is such a great place to live because it offers different types of places to go enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Whether you want to go for a run around the Wrightsville Beach Loop or walk the dog on the beach or even go to Carolina Beach and explore Carolina Beach state park, there are numerous places to go and take in the scenic beauty of Southeastern North Carolina.
