With over a decade of experience in historic renovation and restoration, Samira has extensive experience in both commercial and residential development. Her signature program, Furrtificates of Adoption, ensures that for for every house bought or sold, one furry friend will be saved from a local shelter. “Everyone, small or tall, deserves a home”, explains Samira.
A Wilmington transplant, Samira and her other half relocated to the Port City after an extensive nationwide search to identify their perfect place. She signed up with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage only days before Hurricane Florence made landfall.
With the support of Tim Milam and other Sea Coast agents, Samira partnered with Our Heroes Inc to launch the Furrst Responders Distribution Center, which distributed more than $150,000 of product (pet food plus equine supplies) and served over 2000 families.
Her public relations campaign for Pender Humane Society (also a volunteer role) resulted in more than $44,000 in funds raised and coverage in the Washington Post. She personally rescued eleven cats and kittens, all of whom were transported to safety and found their Furrever Homes.
In addition, Samira launched the Seacoast Sanctuary in conjunction with Pender Humane, to care for overflow unwanted and abandoned animals.
Rescued from rising waters by volunteers, the Sanctuary supported dogs and cats that had been lost or left behind.
“Seeing so many people come together shows you the difference that we -as a community- can choose to make”, explains Samira.
“Wilmington and our surrounding counties rallied, and I’m honored to have been a part of that. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”
Raised in Romania, The United States and England, Samira completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol (UK). She has traveled through Turkey, Egypt, France, Spain, Israel, Kenya and Greece. She attended the Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, until the fall of Caucescu, after which time the family was transitioned to Bucharest to facilitate a free enterprise economy.
Samira and Shane live in historic Carolina Heights, with their two fur children. Both Miss Charlie and Sir Feste the Fluffalump are rescues.
The family’s current foster, Tiggywampus, is searching for his Furrever home. Miss Charlie is hoping that this happens soon, as Tiggywampus has usurped her doggie bed. Tiggywampus is hoping to find a loving family who will buy him a house with a big window, where he can watch the birds and squirrels.
