My first career was in aviation. I took my first solo flight at age 16, earned my Private Pilot’s License at age 19, and earned my Commercial Pilot’s License at age 20. At age 22 I was hired as a First Officer for Piedmont Airlines and after a wonderful career took early retirement and retired at age 52.
In my latter years in aviation I toyed with buying and selling real estate and after retirement I became a licensed real estate agent in 1996 and this started my second career. Through the years I earned the GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), ABR (Accredited Buy Representative), SFR (Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification), CNE (Certified Negotiations Expert) and Broker’s License.
I moved to Wilmington, NC in my early years with Piedmont and realized that I wanted to be near the ocean and the Wilmington area. My wife and I found a new subdivision in 1971 called Olde Point, in Pender County. We bought a lot and built a home and became the fourth family to move into the subdivision. I mention this because I fell in love with the area and realized the dream of waterfront living. When I made the decision to actively engage in real estate brokerage I decided to specialize in my own “back yard” and to concentrate on the upper end of the price point in sales. I have been a multi-million dollar producer since 1998 and 99% of my transactions have been in the 28443 Zip Code (Hampstead).
Even though I specialize in waterfront properties both buying and selling I work with investors and builders as well as developers. I find that having the Coldwell Banker brand in real estate, and more precisely Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage, allows me to communicate on the world stage with potential clients and customers. Our company has been number one in sales volume in our area for the last 15 years. My first career was in aviation. From the very beginning of our search, Ed was most helpful in finding a home near the water that would be acceptable for our large family and within our budget. Ed's diligence in walking us through the multiple difficulties raised by the selling company helped us obtain the perfect home. We believe most realtors would not have been as patient as Ed was in trying to secure the best price from an uncooperative seller.
We consider Ed not just our realtor, but a friend who is welcome to our home anytime.
I have found Ed to be a diligent and easy to work with realtor who understands the local market. Once Ed knew what my wife and I were looking for he worked with that end goal in mind and did not sugar coat things in an effort to make a sale. I've met a number of realtors and Ed stands at or near the top.
Ed was very thoroughly in his search for a new home for us. With his knowledge and communication we were able to purchase our house sight unseen. We are very happy with it.
