Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advtange To Celebrate Halloween By Raising Funds and Awareness for Parkinson's Disease

Posted: October 07, 2015 by Kathy Alexander

The agents and staff at Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage are particularly aware of the
devastating impact of Parkinson’s Disease. Long-time employee and General Manager Tom Spencer retired early
in 2014 due to the effects of Parkinson’s. The mother of Tom O’Neill, Managing Broker for Sea Coast’s South
Brunswick and Holden Beach offices, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2006.
To raise awareness and funds for the disease, O’Neill and others at Sea Coast Advantage are supporting
Moving Day®, a nationwide fundraising walk hosted by the National Parkinson’s Foundation. The North Carolina
Moving Day® event will take place on Saturday, October 31 at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC. O’Neill is
a member of the NC Moving Day® committee and is responsible for increasing awareness of the walk and
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) throughout the Coastal Carolinas.
Moving Day® is an annual fundraising walk that unites families, friends and communities in the fight against
Parkinson’s Disease. Moving Day® is a celebration of movement and will include a walk course, kids’ area,
caregivers relaxation tent and a Movement Pavilion featuring yoga, dance, Tai Chi and Pilates, all of which are
proven to help manage the symptoms of PD.
Moving Day® will take place rain or shine. Donations can be made to Team Sea Coast at SupportNPF.com.
Moving Day®® NC Triangle raised more than $180,000 in 2014. Proceeds from the Moving Day® event will help to
improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s Disease through research, education and outreach.
“I joined up with the National Parkinson’s Foundation about a year ago to raise awareness of the disease
and the impact it has on our loved ones, our colleagues and our community,” said O’Neill. “More research is vitally
important and our support of this event goes a long way towards helping the Foundation fine a cure.”
